Hello, I am Nea Ovens, the Director of Nurture Studio. I am a qualified acupuncturist and have been in full time practice since 2002.
I have experience treating a wide range of health issues, however, my main areas of practice have been the following:-
- Women’s health – menstrual problems
- Issues relating to fertility and conception
- musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction
- chronic pain
- headache and migraine
In a consultation I use acupuncture points chosen specifically according to your Chinese Medicine pathology. I formulate my treatments with reference to up to date evidence based research. I suggest attainable diet and lifestyle changes. If required I will also include Chinese herbs, massage, cupping, dry needling or moxibustion into your treatment.
During a consultation we will discuss the time frame expected to treat your condition. Additionally, I will suggest solutions to help manage your condition outside the treatment room in a realistic achievable way.
I graduated in 2001 with a four year Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) at the Australian College of Natural Medicine, Brisbane. I am an accredited member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA). I am also a registered practitioner under the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
In line with AHPRA guidelines I regularly attend seminars to further refine my skills and to keep up to date with evidence based research.
I have a particular interest in chronic pain, movement, and sleep issues associated with joint hypermobility spectrum disorders. Last year I was excited to attend the Ehler’s Danlos Society ECHO program (5B) for health professionals.
